A tribute to Jia Yuen...

A wind whistled..
An eye twinkled..
and his life flew by before my eyes...
As the shock finally releases me...
I wonder...
How can this be?

A friend...
though only half a year met,
a friend to me still...
A friend who wasn't as lucky as me...
or the rest of the people I knew...
A friend...
who was left out...
who was alone...
when everyone went for sports and games...
There he would stay...
but he was...
a friend...
who was kind and pure in heart...

I though we had so much more time..
I should have done so much more...
Talk to him more...
See him more...
I didn't even get to say goodbye...
because he's gone now...
and he won't ever come back...

In my mind...
and everyone else's too..
is a memory of him...
The way he was to us..
And i hope..
He's in a happier place...

I won't forget you, Jia Yuen...

Sek Jia Yuen was my classmate before he passed away. He was only 14 years old. He was suffering from muscular distrophy which made him wheelchair bound...
No matter what religion you are, please say a short prayer for Jia Yuen in your own way...

Eternal rest, grant unto him, O Lord,
and let perpetual light shine upon him.
May the soul of the faithful departed
through the mercy of God rest in peace.
Amen.

Rest in peace, Jia Yuen.
